2000 Years on the Edge is a project that pays homage to the ancient cedar forest that inhabits the cliff faces of the Niagara Escarpment.  Some of the trees growing there are nearly 2000 years old and because of their precarious conditions clinging to the escarpment face they have survived.  The cedar cast in bronze is taken from molds made from a cedar that lived to about 600-years.  The cedar tree specimen was loaned to me by the cliff ecology team at the University of Guelph, Canada.  The head of the unit is Dr. Doug Larsen who evolved the discipline of Cliff Ecology.  The bronze cedar clings to two eleven ton boulders and its roots appear to weave the two stacked boulders together.  The project is sited on the campus of Brock University, St. Catharines, Canada. The work is part of the Lutz Teutloff sculpture collection at Brock University.
